Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults
(RCIA)

“The rite of Christian Initiation … is designed for adults who, after hearing the mystery of Christ proclaimed, consciously and freely seek the living God and enter the way of faith and conversion as the Holy Spirit opens their hearts. By God’s help they will be strengthened spiritually during their preparation and at the proper time will receive the sacraments fruitfully.”

RCIA is a process for those interested in learning more about the Catholic faith or joining the Catholic Church.

There are four periods of the RCIA:

Inquiry
For those who have even a casual interest in the Catholic faith, this is a time to ask questions and see what Catholicism is all about. It offers a perfect opportunity to find out if this is the right time to complete their Christian journey.

>>> Meets on Wednesday nights 6:00 – 7:00

Catechumenate
A time of serious spiritual learning. An opportunity to explore the deep riches in the Catholic Church. Learning about the Mass, the Sacraments, and the teachings of the Catholic Church.

Purification & Enlightenment
Intense preparation to complete the Sacraments of Initiation.

Mystagogy
Beginning to explore what it means to be a new member of the Catholic Faith. Newly initiated members are encouraged to find their gifts and talents and put them to work to help build the Kingdom of God.

If you or someone you know is interested in joining RCIA, please contact Norma Sherman at 322-1060 or Janet Moore at 322-2147.
