The Refuge of Hope is an outreach ministry of several Twin City churches which provides hot lunches for the indigent citizens of our community every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. It was created and is managed by St. Albans Episcopal Church and operates out of the DeSiard Street Shelter located at 807 DeSiard Street.
The building is owned by Kay Southern and is maintained through her personal generosity. The Shelter lives up to its name by providing a DAY refuge for an indigent person to seek relief from the weather, have a cup of coffe, wash a load of clothes, take a shower, and eat a nutritious lunch. It is the only one of its kind in the area.
Jesus the Good Shepherd provides lunches the 4th Monday and Wednesday of each month operating with 2 teams of 6 parishioners each. There is a continuing need for new team members and substitutes. If enough people are interested, Good Shepherd would like to create a third team. Please contact Vonny Jaubert at 325-7549 for more information about this wonderful ministry.
