Baptism is god's most beautiful and magnificent gift... We call it gift, grace, anointing, enlightenment, garment of immortality, bath of rebirth, seal and most precious gift. - St. Gregory Nazianzen [1216]
In Baptism, we are freed of original sin, reborn as adopted children of God, and regenerated in the Holy Spirit. Baptism makes us members of Christ, incorporates us into His Church and makes us sharers in His mission. Baptism imprints on our souls an indelible spiritual character, which sets us apart for worship. Baptism can therefore never be repeated. In Baptism we die to the world and put on Christ, sharing in the priesthood of all believers. We are all baptized into one body, including those Christians not yet in full communion with the Catholic Church, who are to be accepted as our brethren. [1227, 1267-1272, 1279]
