Anointing the Sick
| Share

“The Sacrament of Anointing is appropriate for those whose health is seriously impaired by sickness, or for those weakened by advance age. This includes persons who are seriously ill whether at home, in hospitals or in nursing homes, as well as children who are old enough to experience benefit from the sacrament.”

Sacramental Guidelines for the Diocese of Shreveport

  • JGS Parish will have the Anointing of the Sick at each weekend Mass during one weekend of the year. Please watch your newsletter and/or bulletin for specific dates.

  • If you or someone you know would benefit from this sacrament, or if you just have questions about it, please contact the church office. We will do everything we can to help you in this time of need.

  • “By the sacred anointing of the sick and the prayer of the priests the whole Church commends those who are ill to the suffering and glorified Lord, that he may raise them up and save them. And indeed she exhorts them to contribute to the good of the People of God by freely uniting themselves to the Passion and death of Christ.” Catechism of the Catholic Church
